Mr. Elmer Lee Cline "Pappy" age 68, of Myersville, MD passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013 at his home after a long illness. Elmer was the loving husband, and best friend of Phylis D. Cline to whom he was married for 35 years.
Born on June 11, 1945 in Frederick, MD he was the son of the late Clarence and Dorothy Cline.
Elmer attend and graduated from Middletown High School. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Myersville. He was also a member of the Middletown AMVETS. Following graduation he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Elmer medically retried from Fairchild Industries. Elmer was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan and also enjoyed country music, dancing, wood crafting and working on genealogy. He was a devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and will be greatly missed, but is finally out of pain and at peace.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Robert W. Cline and wife Lavonda of Harpers Ferry, WV and his daughter Kathy A. Cline and partner Michael H. Quirbach of Inwood, WV. "Pappy" was the proud grandfather of Derrick W. Cline, Isaac L. Cline, Stephanie N. Mercer, Tyler W. Cline, David L. Mercer, Jason A. Mercer, Jennifer M. Mercer, Rebecca L. Cline and Arwen E. Quirbach. Also surviving are his two brothers George and Charlie and twin sisters Betty and Barbara.
He was preceded in death by his brother Howard.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 6-8PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 11AM at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10632 Church Hill Rd., Myersville., Myersville. Pastor David Howell will officiate.
Interment will follow at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Isaac Cline's College fund at the Middletown Valley Bank, 3001 Ventrie Ct., Myersville, MD 21773.
