Ellen Miller Hatgi

Ellen Miller Hatgi passed away peacefully at home with her husband of 52 years John by her side on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

She was born in New Orleans, La on August 19, 1935 in the French Quarter on Esplanade Ave. She loved the Quarter and all that New Orleans had to offer.

Ellen worked for Touro Infirmary Hospital and then Snelling and Snelling Employment Agency for whom she worked for many years before she and John moved to Walkersville, Md., and made it their home.

Ellen worked at Burkheimer Co in Frederick when they first moved to Walkersville then Frederick Memorial Hospital as their Employment Manager, she retired after 21 years.

She enjoyed her retirement traveling, gardening, especially eating her own figs that she grew for many years, and spending time with her beloved dog.

Ellen is survived by her children; Patricia Gray (Glenn), Davis Miller (Leticia), Angela Chapman (Roby) and Mark Hatgi; grandchildren, Lisa, Vicki, Rachel, Brooke, Ashley, Davis Ill, Amber, Michael, Zoe and Stephen. She is also survived by 10 great -grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a great-grandson.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends is planned for late Spring or early Summer.
