Elizabeth Wett

June 7, 1929 — March 3, 2014

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Wett (nee Delsasso), fondly known as Betty, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2014.  Born in Los Angeles, CA, June 7, 1929, Elizabeth moved to the east coast in her teens.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Maryland where she met her husband, John, Jack as she called him, to whom she was married for more than 61 years.

Betty and Jack moved many times in their marriage, living all over the U.S. before returning to Maryland to retire.  They raised four daughters during that time, each born in a different state:  North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, and Maryland.  After moving to Pennsylvania, Betty earned a degree in Medical Records Technology from the University of Pittsburgh and worked in a local nursing home until retirement.  She and Jack lived in Frederick and were members of St. Timothy Catholic Church.

Betty will be remembered for many things, her laugh, her quick mind, her love of gourmet cooking, and her perseverance in the face of her many health issues.  But mostly, her family will remember her as a loving wife and mother, two of the roles she most valued.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Ruth Wett.  She is survived by her loving husband and friend, John Wett, and her daughters, Cecilia Wett, of Germantown, MD, Ann Odehnal and husband, David, of Richmond, VA, and Eve Coconis and husband, Michael of Middletown, MD.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Elizabeth Cameron, John and Alexandra Coconis, and Nicholas and Patrick Odehnal.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Frederick Memorial Hospital, 4B, for their loving care during the last four weeks.  We are very grateful for their kindness.

A mass will be held March 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Homewood at Crumland Farms Chapel, 7404 Willow Rd, Frederick, Maryland.  Charitable contributions may be made in Betty’s name to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Arrangements are being handled by Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. of Frederick and Stauffer Crematory, Inc.
