Elizabeth Staub

Mrs. Elizabeth Mae Ramsburg Metz Staub, 89, of Frederick, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy.

Born on February 25, 1922, in Braddock, she was the daughter of the late Norman Thomas and Nellie Mary Frances Wachter Ramsburg. She attended Lewistown School and graduated from Frederick High School in 1939. Elizabeth went to work at 14 years of age on the John Arthur Summers farm near Braddock. From 1940-44 she worked at P L Hargett. She married Hayes L. Metz in 1942, who predeceased her in January 1971. Elizabeth then married William Staub in 1973, who passed away on September 2005. Mrs Staub worked at the Frederick Trading Company from 1948 until her retirement in 1993. Mrs. Staub was a long time member of Braddock Lutheran Church for over 70 years. She was a member of the School House Quilters, loved to travel, having visited all 50 states; and enjoyed, playing bingo and quilting A special thanks to granddaughter, Jeannie Russell and neighbors: Thelma Harding, John Frazier, Margo Crothers, Jane Weedon and Stephanie Gray, all good care givers.

Surviving are children: Hayes (JR) Metz and wife Geraldine of Thurmont, Hazel Jones and husband Robert, Claudia Deeds, Sandra Newcomer and husband Russell and Norman (Doc) Metz all of Frederick, William Staub, Jr and wife Gayle of Loris SC, Theresa Griffin of Kerrville, TX, Deborah Cleaver and Karen Staub of Hagerstown; brothers: Ralph Ramsburg and wife Betty of Thurmont, and Herbert Ramsburg of Harpers Ferry, WV; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs Staub was preceded in death by a son, Joseph (Joey) Staub, brothers: Paul, Claude, Earl and Ira Ramsburg; sister, Esther Ramsburg, sister-in-law Frances Ramsburg and a daughter-in-law, Sue Metz.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on both Saturday April 9 and Sunday, April 10, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick where funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 11, with her Pastor, Lynell Thurman officiating.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens Frederick, with grandsons: Dwayne Deeds, Kenneth Price, Hayes Frazier and Daniel, Randall and Ronald Metz serving as pallbearers.
