Elizabeth Pichini

Elizabeth C. Pichini, 99, of Mount Airy, MD, passed from this life on Monday, October 22, 2018 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Andrew Pichini who preceded her in death in 2001.
Born on July 6, 1919, in Gallatin, PA, and raised in Gray's Landing, she was the fourth daughter of the late Biagio and Dorotea Franchi Casantini.
Elizabeth graduated from Masontown High School, Class of 1938. She was the first female to be enrolled in a Mechanical Drawing Class. Elizabeth worked at AT&T/Lucent in Reading and was a life member of Pioneers of America. After retiring, Elizabeth enjoyed baking (Italian cookies were her favorite), sewing, reading and solving word puzzles. She moved to Mt. Airy in 2001 where she was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the O.W.L.S of St. Michael's and the Mt. Airy Senior Center where she participated in many activities including an instructor for Itch to Stitch. During her time the group crocheted or knitted approximately 200 baby blankets per year for the Linus Project.
Surviving are her son, Leonard Pichini and wife Jeanne of Exeter, NH and daughter Deanna Pichini and husband Frank with whom she resided; three grandchildren: Ann Murphy, Susan Pichini and Thomas Pichini and wife Terumi; three great grandchildren: Ryan and Colin Murphy and Kiki Pichini as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her sisters: Adeline Scarpati, Stella Marraccini, Nora Casani and Nardi Casantini.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 am to 10:30 AM on Friday, October 26, at St. Michael's Catholic Church at Poplar Springs, 1125 St. Michael's Road, Mt. Airy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM with Rev. Michael J. Ruane as Celebrant. Entombment will take place at Gethsemane Cemetery in Reading, PA at a later date.
