Elizabeth Hooper

Elizabeth H. "Libby" Hooper, 94, of Frederick, MD, died Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Somerford Assisted Living in Frederick. She was the loving wife of Joseph O. Hooper who predeceased her July 9, 2000. They were married June 28, 1943.

Born August 21, 1922 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Anna Kessler and Earl F. Hargett, Sr.

Libby retired from the Frederick Mutual Insurance Company after 42 years as secretary. She also served as hostess at the Peter Pan Restaurant.

She was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ in Frederick, member of the Frederick Chapter #79 Order of the Eastern Star and the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Libby is survived by a brother, Earl F. Hargett, Jr.; niece and nephews, Charles W. Main, Trudi M. Shaw, Earl L. Main, Roy L. Main, Jr., Kathy Lenhart, Crystal Emerick, Cheryl Henman and Lauran Hargett; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Irene G. Leatherman and Mary K. Main; and a niece, Mary E. Abrecht.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, December 5th at the Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick with Rev. Barbara Kershner Daniel officiating. Entombment will follow at the mausoleum at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.
