Mrs. Elizabeth J. Hofmann, 85 of Myersville, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home in Boonsboro. She was the wife of the late Eugene M. Hofmann who died in 2009.

Born on November 29, 1930 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Constantine and Jane Teresa Catalano Welker. Betty retired from the Union National Bank in Pittsburgh after many years of service.  She was a member of Harmony Church of the Brethren as well as the auxiliaries of the American Legion and AMVETS. Betty enjoyed to crochet, read and play Bingo, but her true joy was visits from her grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Terry Gainer and husband Dick of Myersville; a son, Wesley Hofmann of St. Charles, MO; four grandchildren: Rich Gainer and wife Elizabeth of the Bronx, NY, Angela Korb and husband Rob of Salisbury, MD, Christine Hofmann of Florida and Alana Hofmann of Belleville, IL; three brothers: Ron Welker and wife Becky, and Jim Welker, all of Pittsburgh and Larry Welker and wife Karen of Carlisle, PA.

Mrs. Hofmann was preceded in death by a son, Eugene M. Hofmann, Jr and a brother, Joseph Welker.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Friday, January 15, at the Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, 11301 Meeting House Rd., Myersville where services will begin at 11:00 AM with Rev. Lerry Fogle and Tim Ritchey Martin officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Farhney-Keedy Memorial Home, 8507 Mapleville Rd., Boonsboro, MD 21713.
