Mrs. Elizabeth Barnes Haines, 87, of Frederick, MD passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Northampton Manor Health Care Center.
Born September 16, 1924, on a farm in Taylorsville, MD she was the daughter of the late Truman R. and Virginia R. Welsh Barnes.
Mrs. Haines was a graduate of Mt. Airy High School. She retired after 30 years of service from Frederick Memorial Hospital as a manager in the business office. Elizabeth was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and served on Trinity Committee Staff Fellowship and the Hospitality Worship. She was an excellent seamstress and made all of her own and her daughters clothing and also enjoyed making Christmas cookies. Mrs. Haines loved and was dearly loved in return by her family.
She is survived by her children Barbara J. Zavona and husband William F. of Frederick and Stephen C. Haines and wife Susan L. of Hagerstown, grandchildren Tracy A. Zavona of Frederick, Stephen A. Haines and wife Kimberly of Centerville, VA and Jeffrey Haines of Martinsburg, WV; great-grandchildren Clayton and Spencer Haines; brother Wayne Barnes and wife Ellen of Taylorsville; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Zavona and brother-in-law Edward J. Zavona, her ex-husband Clayton A. Haines and a great nephew and great-great niece.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Monday, August 27, 2012 from 7-9 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 705 W. Patrick St., Frederick on Tuesday, August 28 at 11 AM. Pastor Lynn Wilson will officiate.
Interment will follow at Taylorsville Cemetery.
