Elaine Semler

Elaine Virginia Semler, 74, of Hagerstown, passed from this life on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Cadia Healthcare in Hagerstown.

Born on April 11, 1944, in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late Lewis E. and Edna I. (Forrest) Doyle.

She graduated from Boonsboro High School in 1962. She retired from Winter Growth Assisted Living Facility in 2014, maintaining contact with her colleagues and residents whom she considered a second family. Elaine considered Winter Growth Assisted Living Facility and residents as family. Elaine cared for the residents holistically creating a home feel atmosphere in the facility by cooking meals and decorating for holidays. Her residents did not go without.

She is survived by sons, Randall E. Semler of Dundalk, MD and Mark A. Semler and wife, Amy, of Greencastle; son-in-law, Steven Shifler of Hagerstown; daughters-in-law, Deborah Leyh of Hagerstown, Mary Semler of Frederick and Lynne Semler of Shrewsbury, PA; grandchildren, Tiffany Saunders, Craig Semler, Cody Semler, Randee Lynne Semler, Amanda Shifler, James Semler, Brittany Watson, Meghan Semler, Jacob Semler, Sarah Obitts and Nicholas Marschner; great-grandchildren, Larissa Saunders, Jason Saunders, Jr., Shaylynn Beauford, Landen Semler, Madelyn Obitts and Anneliese Obitts; special friend, Melissa Slifer; and brother, Raymond Doyle of Falling Waters, WV.

Elaine was preceded in death by two daughters, Deborah A. Shifler and Patricia A. Semler; and sister, Shirley Gearhart.

A celebration of Elaine's life journey will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Boonsboro Cemetery where Pastor Kristopher Sledge will officiate.
