Elaine Yvonne Murrell 63, of Frederick, MD , departed this life to her new home in glory on February 18, 2014.  She was the daughter of the late Vinnie Burwell and the late Mance Smith.

Born and raised in Norfolk, VA, she had been a resident of Frederick since 1977.  She served 13 years active military (Army)  and 23 years as a civilian employee totaling 36 years of federal service ;  ultimately retiring from USAMRIID, Fort Detrick.  She loved her USAMRIID family and was loved by them.  Elaine was a faithful and loyal member of Quinn A.M.E Church for 20 years and served in many ministries: usher board, senior choir and missionary society.  She was also the president of the Senior Choir for many years.  She was also known for her dynamic singing voice and used it to the glory of God.

She is survived by her son, Terrence, granddaughter Emaya, and special daughters Tiea Morina and Ebony Black.  She leaves to cherish her memory brother John Cook, Sr., Clarice Branch (aunt), Alfred Johnson, Sr. (uncle) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.  She was especially appreciative of her devoted son and caretakers Ellen Johnson, Rene Weedon, Arianne Edwards, Arlene Allen, Celestine Jennings, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Fisher.  Special thanks are extended to her Quinn Chapel family.

The family will receive friends at the Jackson Chapel, 5609 Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 12-1PM where a service will begin at 1PM.  Pastor Luke Robinson will officiate.

Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
