Elaine Karas Callas-Arnett, age 85, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on October 24, 2012. Elaine was born August 12, 1927, in Paterson, NJ. She was one of 4 children (Manny, Mary and George) born to Stephen and Athena Karas.
In addition to her brother George E. Karas, Elaine is survived by her daughter Star Athena of
Thurmont, MD and two sons, James Stalio Callas and wife Paula Callas of Baltimore and Stephen James Callas of Fredericksburg, VA. She is also survived by grandchildren Adam Haralamas, Matthew Haralamas, wife Barbara, Pete Haralamas, wife Kristie, Elena and Bart Broyles, Heather and Gary Brunell, Stalio and Janice Callas, Justin and Jessica Callas and numerous great and great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Special friends include Sam and Dawn Phoubadith & family, Carol Atherly and Connie Straker.
She married Stalio J. Callas of James Callas & Bro's Produce Corp. of Washington, DC in March,
1946 in Washington DC. They were active members of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Elaine was the runner up for two years in the Mrs. Washington Contest in the mid 1950's. She was an Executive Secretary for the president of Central National Bank for many years before retiring.
Elaine will be remembered for her smile, her great cooking, her beautiful wavy hair, her kind, loving heart and her generosity towards others. The focus of her life was the love she gave to her family.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, Maryland, Saturday October 27, 2012 from 10:00 am until service time at 12:00 Noon. Pastor Clint Guthrie will officiate.
Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
