Monrovia

Update: Due to inclement weather concerns the Mass at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church on Monday, January 6, 2025 has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Eileen Mary Kalwa, daughter of the late Bernard Joseph Jackson and Eileen Cecelia Jackson (nee Lardner), born on July 14, 1948, in Dundalk, Maryland, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Eileen is survived by her son Daniel Kalwa; her daughter Suzanne Mattes and son-in law Daniel Mattes; her cherished granddaughter Audrey Mattes; her three brothers; her sister; three sisters-in law; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Marion Kalwa.

A proud graduate of Catholic High in Baltimore, Maryland, Eileen began her career at the Social Security Administration shortly after finishing school. Her dedication to public service spanned over four decades, culminating in her retirement from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in 2013.

Eileen spent much of her life in Sykesville, Maryland, where she and Robert built a life together. After his passing, she moved to Monrovia to be closer to family and she took great joy in meeting her granddaughter at the bus stop every day after school.

Eileen had a passion for reading, gardening, and playing board games. She was known for her incredible willingness to listen and her ability to offer thoughtful advice, qualities that endeared her to all who knew her.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May those who love her find comfort in the legacy of kindness and wisdom she leaves behind.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 5, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Boulevard, Mt. Airy. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 6, at 11:00 AM at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church, 4103 Prices Distillery Road, Ijamsville.
