Edward Wilson Blackburn, 87, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Friday, January 1, 2021 at his home.
Born on January 9, 1933, in Bedford, PA he was the son of the late Leonard D. Ucci and Annette Corle Blackburn Ucci.
Edward was a 1949 graduate of Schellsburg-Napier High School and a 1953 graduate of Pennsylvania Military College. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953-1975 as a Nuclear Medicine Science Officer after earning his Master's of Science in Biology from the University of Tennessee in 1961. Edward was the Director of Environmental Safety from 1975-1990 at the University of MD. He was a member of NRA and the recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal. In his spare time, Edward enjoyed shooting, hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by his children Edward D. Blackburn (Lynn), Deborah Jo Bowers (Richard) and Stacie Anne Gallo (John); grandchildren, Natalie, Ashley, Mark, Jarod, Joey and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Ellsea and Lea.
He was preceded in death by his brother Tom Blackburn.
Funeral services will be private.
There will be a burial at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
