Edward Cleon Wise, 51 of Frederick departed this life with his family by his side, Friday, January 16, 2009.
He was the husband of Mary Bohrer Wise, his wife of 25 years.
Ed was born February 23, 1957, in Flint, MI, he was the son of Arthur Wise of Davison, MI, and the late Cora (Might) Wise.
Ed served in the United States Army. He was employed as an Engineering Technician at the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, Fort Detrick, MD. He had 29 years of Federal service.
Ed served for many years as an active member of Francis Scott Key American Legion Post #11. As an officer of the Post he held the positions of Sergeant-at-Arms, First and Second Vice Commander, Adjutant, and House Committee Chairman. He was the 2000/2001 Post #11 Commander. In addition, he was a Past Frederick County Commander and was currently serving as a member of The Department of Maryland Executive Committee. Ed was also a member of the 40 & 8. He volunteered for nine years with the Frederick City Police Auxiliary accomplishing the rank of Corporal. He served as Training Coordinator and assisted with community service activities. For more than 15 years, Ed served on the board of the Amber Meadows Community Association. Ed enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, and fishing and serving his community. He will be sadly missed by his entire family as well as many friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife and father are his children, son, Edward Wise and wife Liz of Hanover, PA and daughter, Andrea Wise of Frederick, MD. Five grandchildren, Brooklyn Walling, Alexandria Wise, Ashlyn Wise of Bonneauville, PA; Alyssa Sipes of Frederick, MD, and Ave` Wise of Hanover, PA. Brothers Robert Wise of Flint, Michigan; Carl Wise and wife Patty of Lewiston, MI; Richard Wise and wife Roxanne of Davison, MI; two adopted brothers, Paul Wise from California and Tim Graham and wife Sue of Davison, MI, and sister Dorothy Weis and husband Gerald of Ossineke, MI. Ed shared a special relationship with his in-laws Marianne Bohrer of Romney, WV and the late Lewis Bohrer.
Ed was predeceased by two brothers; John Wise and Donald Wise; one sister Cora (Connie) Wise and sister-in-law Margaret Wise.
Visitation:
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 20 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD where an American Legion Memorial Service will be conducted at the funeral home in Frederick beginning at 8:00 p.m.
Visitation will also be held Wednesday, January 21 from 5-8 pm at Community Fellowship Church, Points, WV.
Services: Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 22, 1 p.m at Community Fellowship Church, Points, WV. Military interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Points, WV.
