Edward "Pete" Miller, 84, of Damascus, passed from this life on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at his residence. He was married for 60 years to Patricia Ann Miller, who died in 2021.
Born on March 31, 1940, in Olney, MD, he was the son of the late Mary Lois Peter Hutchison.
Pete was a true Entrepreneur, owning and/or operating a number of businesses including: Damascus CB and RadioShack, a small engine repair shop, Tucker's Gas & Go, the Chevron service station in Aspen Hill. He was also a delivery driver for Coke, worked for a nursery and was a NASCAR Pit Mechanic; but he will be most remembered as the owner of Red Rooster in Damascus for more than 30 years.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He loved spending time at his cabin he built in Everett, PA, as well as spending time at his condo in Ocean City.
Surviving are his children: Theresa M. Eckenrode and husband Tac, Sharon Lorraine Miller-Bass and husband Joseph Bynum Bass, Pete Miller, Jr. and wife Susan, Joseph Miller and wife Margo, and daughter in law Kim Troxler Miller; grandchildren: Austin Foster, Skyyler Miller, Lexi Miller, Zach Miller, Kaytlin Garland and husband Joey, Peter Miller, III, Katie Cala and husband Joseph, Patty Lechlider and husband Matt, and step grandchildren Dawn Bass Anderson, Travis Bass and John Eckenrode; great grandchildren: Oliver and Asher Garland, Michael Cala, Owen and Brice Lechlider as well as step granddaughter: Pam Keser and husband Chris and step great granddaughters: Taylor and Delenn Keser. Pete was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Miller who died in 2013.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday, April 11, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at 12:00 PM on Friday, April 12, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 9240 Damascus Road, Damascus, MD 20872. Internment will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Germantown. A reception is being planned after the interment and will be announced.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude.
