Edward Lehmann

Edward Arthur Lehmann, age 82, beloved husband of Frances Fairall Lehmann, his wife of 62 years, passed away January 13, 2012. He was born Oct. 30 1929 in Laurel, MD to Edward Otto and Mary Fenton Lehmann and graduated from Laurel High School. Following his enlistment in the US Coast Guard, he began his career with the telephone company, beginning with C&P, then Bell Atlantic and finally Verizon. His lifelong avocation was in music, specializing in the Big Band Era and Dixieland. He was host of Saturday Night Swing on WFRE and co-host of Young at Heart on Frederick Cablevision.
Memberships included The Fredericktown Players, The Frederick Arts Council, Amvets Post 0002, American Legion Post 0011, Elks Lodge 684, the Catoctin Club and Telephone Pioneers.
Ed is survived by three sons: Michael E. Lehmann and wife Linda of Lafayette ,CO, Richard K. Lehmann and wife Cece of Hagerstown and Chuck Lehmann of Naples ,FL; and daughters Deb Lehmann Lanzendorfer and husband Wayne of Williamsport, MD, and Laurie Lehmann Frey and husband Paul of Frederick. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a sister, Edna Lehmann Harding of Laurel and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by sister Mary Lehmann Cornwell.
Family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Oppossumtown Pike, Frederick on Tuesday, January 17 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. Services will be held at the funeral home on Weds, January 18 at 11am with Mark Sandell officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain HWY (15N), Frederick.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to American Cancer Society at 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742 or the charity of your choice.
