It is with great sadness that the family of Edward ‘Ed’ Francis Kohlhepp, III, announce his passing on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at the age of 55 years at his home in Georgetown, Texas. Ed will be lovingly remembered by his wife Kate McGuire-Kohlhepp and his children, Kerri Kohlhepp Scarborough & Bo Scarborough, Kevin Kohlhepp, and Kara & Eric Paul. Ed will also be fondly remembered as ‘Grumpy’ by his three grandchildren: Hannah & Jake Paul, and Olivia Scarborough.
Born March 22, 1964, in West Islip, New York, and raised in West Babylon, New York. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Irene Kohlhepp; his grandparents Edward and Louise Kohlhepp; Aunts Joan Somma, Lauren Kohlhepp, and Debbie Rhodes; and Brother-in-law Sean McGuire.
Ed will be forever remembered by his extensive family, including Bobby Kohlhepp, Nicholas Somma, Nick Somma & Staci Gerardi, Debbie & Ken Mehr, Kim & Ernie Hahn, Stacey & Jeff Messina, Kevin & Alicia Kohlhepp, Sanford & Sharon McGuire, Grace McGuire, Brian McGuire, and Mollie McGuire-Fish & Greg Fish, Rodney Rhodes, Gary Rhodes, Melissa Medina, Abbey & Lazarus Stanley, Joan & Fred Cosman, John & Lynn Kohlhepp, and numerous dear friends.
A lifelong fan of the Jets and Mets, he also enjoyed fantasy baseball, smoking a stogie and lounging by the pool, taste testing any and all Banana pudding, DIY home improvement projects, and tending the lawn. Ed cherished being with his children and grandchildren, being around family, and spending time with those he loved. A man of few words, this gentle giant will be greatly missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home at 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick Maryland, on Saturday, June 8, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life reception will follow the service.
