Edward Riley Gaylor, Jr.

Edward Riley Gaylor, Jr., 88, of Boonsboro, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Stella Gaylor for 58 years.  Born on June 13, 1935 in Washington, DC, he was the son of Edward Riley Gaylor, Sr. and Mary Etta (Mangum) Lentz.

He retired from Potomac Electric Power Company after 37 years of service.  He served in the US Army with the 54th infantry of the 4th Armored Division in Fort Hood, Texas and Heilbrow, Germany.  He was a Freemason, belonging to the Anacostia Lodge #21- F.A.A.M. for over 63 years, belonged to Morris Frock Post 42 of the American Legion and their honor guard as well as the Amvets Post 10.  He and his wife were longtime members of Church of Christ.

Mr. Gaylor is survived by his children, Stella Diane Gaylor, Richard Joseph Gaylor and wife Lisa, Pamela Ann LaFleur and husband Hugh, Michael L. Gaylor and wife Janie and Lillian V. Connell and husband Daryl; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Taylor.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 15 at 12:30 pm at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
