Edward Donachy

Edward E. Donachy, 60, of Littlestown, PA, entered God’s eternal care on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after an eight month battle with lymphoma.

Born December 4, 1957 in Beckley, WV, he was the son of the late John Samuel and Shirley Thomas Donachy. Edward was the loving husband of Susan Phillips Donachy with whom he shared eighteen years of marriage.

Ed was a 1976 graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill, WV and was most recently enrolled in the pre-chiropractic program at Frederick Community College. He was a training technician at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD, where he proudly served since 1994 and was instrumental in developing and delivering various aspects of the command and control systems for the nation’s fire service. Ed was an avid storyteller who enjoyed time spent with family and friends, reading all things Civil War, golfing, playing music, and many travels with his wife.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Chris-Anna Donachy and husband Brad of Fleetwood, NC, grandson Connor and granddaughter, Claira, brother John Donachy and wife Gypsy of Santa Fe, NM, sister Barbara Patterson and husband William of Westminster, MD, sister Mary McClaskey of Charlotte, NC, cousin Melissa Holland and family of Tucker, GA, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Donachy.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, August 6, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will be private in Brownsville Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Knoxville, MD.

A gathering to celebrate Ed’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ed’s memory to the Frederick Memorial Hospital ICU.
