Edna McIntosh

November 6, 1926 — February 25, 2016

Mrs. Edna Jones McIntosh, (age 89), most recently of Frederick, Md., passed away peacefully on February 25, 2016, at Kline Hospice House, in Mount Airy, Md. She was preceded in death by George, her husband of 49 years, and their son Douglas.

The fourth of five children, Edna was born in Winston-Salem, N.C., to Thomas and Hattie Jones. She spent much of her life working as a bookkeeper in the District of Columbia. Edna, George and Doug lived in Cheverly, Md., among many neighbors who became like family.

Edna and George loved to travel and loved to go dancing. An avid reader, Edna was always working on jigsaw puzzles. Edna and George also enjoyed spending time in Ocean City, Md., where they had another group of wonderful friends.

After health issues limited her ability to live alone, Edna moved to Frederick, Md., to live with her nephew Greg Jones, and his family, including his wife Courtney, and their children, Rachel, Lauren, Kendall and Nicholas. While there, she enjoyed attending the children's sports events, as well as attending Daybreak Adult Day Center.

Edna was preceded in death by her brother Eric Jones, and her sisters Evelyn Rich and Louise Brodsky. She is survived by her brother Thomas Jones, and his wife Nancy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Stauffer Funeral home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Md., on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Daybreak Adult Day Center Frederick, MD or the Hospice of Frederick County.
