Edna Hurst

Edna Alice Hurst, 74, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018.
Born April 8, 1944, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Emory and Alice Shafer.
Edna worked for the Frederick County Public Schools until her retirement.  She very much enjoyed working at New Market Elementary School as Lead Custodian, as well as, her wonderful interaction with the school kids.  Edna was an amazing woman who will missed by all those that she met throughout her life.
Edna enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, playing cards with family, bingo and gardening.
She is survived by her children Mary, Brenda, Barbara and James; her life partner, Thomas Hurst; and step-son, Ricky Sandy; along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   She is also survived by her sisters, Nancy Bengston and Wanda Shafer.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Shafer and Preston Shafer; and her sisters, Ruth Shafer, Betty Rohrbaugh and Linda Shafer.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont, MD.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Stauffer Funeral Home in Thurmont. Please feel free to come and share your Edna experiences with others in attendance.
