Mrs. Edith D. Wiley, 89, of Mt. Airy, died peacefully Saturday, March 12, 2016 at home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late William M. Wiley.

Born December 23, 1926 in Cass, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Bessie (Rose) Phillips.

Edith worked for 40 years as an Acquisitions Department Clerk at Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Miller and husband, William, of Mt. Airy and Helen Lowrey; sons, Joseph Wiley of Catonsville, and Thomas Wiley and wife, Kathryn, of Shrewsburg, PA; a daughter-in-law, Donna Wiley of Largo, FL; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Edith was the last of her immediate family.

She was predeceased by her sons, David and Toby Wiley; a grandson, Toby Wayne Wiley; two brothers, Leonard and Samuel Phillips; and two sisters, Jewell Blankenship and Viola Foe.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, where a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16. Officiating will be Pastor Robin Litton Simpson of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Eldersburg.

Interment will follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Elkridge.
