Mr. Edgar J. Hatter, 99, of Sabillasville, died on Tuesday, September 11, 2007, at Waynesboro Hospital. He was the husband of Jessie Viola McKissick Hatter who died in 1998.
Mr. Hatter was born on October 21, 1907, in Baltimore, MD. He was a mechanic for Thomas, Bennett, Hunter Concrete in Westminster retiring in 1974 after 38 years service. Edgar served in the Maryland National Guard. He was an avid gardener, paying special attention to his fruit trees and enjoyed mowing the yard which he did up until last year.
Surviving are a son, Edgar E. Hatter of Saballisville; 3 grandchildren, Eddie B. Hatter and wife Lola of Glenelg, Susan Hatter of Damascus and Bryan C. Black and wife Stacey of Middletown; 4 great grandchildren, RJ Rose, Matthew Rose, Jessie Black and Jillian Black; as well as numerous nieces, and nephews. Mr. Hatter was preceded in death by a foster son, Roland Bud Black and a brother, Ralph Hatter.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 16 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street in Thurmont, Maryland.
Services:
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Monday, September 17, at Eylers Valley Chapel, Eylers Valley Flint Road, Sabillasville, with Pastor Jeff Walter officiating. Interment will take place in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont
