Mr.
Earle Lynn Follin, 84 of Brunswick passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012.
Born May 1, 1928 in Purcellville, VA, he was the son of the late Theodore D. Follin, Sr. and Stella Moreland Follin.
Lynn was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Lincoln, VA, Class of 1947. He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute for (Dairy Herd Improvement Asso. (DHIA) & Animal Husbandry courses, and the ESSO Management Training School.
He was a member of Petersville Luther Chapel, and was the founder of the former Merryland Chapter of the Isaac Walton League of America (IWLA). Lynn was instrumental in getting a boat ramp placed on the Maryland side of the Potomac River near Harpers Ferry, WV. He was also a member of the Brunswick Eagles Club Aerie 1136, and was a life member of the Frederick County Fish and Game Association. Lynn greatly enjoyed the out-of-doors, especially hunting, fishing, golf, gardening and farm life, and boating.
Lynn retired from the National Institute of Science & Technology, (formerly National Bureau of Standards) in 1987, receiving numerous awards.
He was a civilian employee on the Guard Force at the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) Bethesda Naval Hospital, and was the proprietor of Follin's Esso/Exxon Servicenter for 25 years. He managed the Imperial Theater in Brunswick in 1951-52, was employed at Frederick Iron & Steel, and served as DIDA Supervisor for Frederick County, for the Eastern Shore of MD, and for Loudoun County, VA.
He is survived by his wife, Betty M. (Stull) Follin, one son: James E. Follin; four daughters: Lynne A. Markwell, Janet E. Ring and husband John, Jane F. Kuhn, Joanne E. Beardsley and husband Charles; daughter-in-law Debbie Follin; son-in-law Steven Kuhn; eight grandchildren: Brent and Nathan Follin, Matt (wife Megan) and Meghan Kuhn, Jaimie Shirley, Derek Beardsley, Jason Markwell (wife Sarah), Julie Markwell; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers: Gordon and Theodore Follin. Lynn was the last of his immediate family.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 2:00PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Ave., Brunswick. The family will be present to receive friends one hour prior to service time. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at St. Marks Cemetery.
