Earl Gough Purks, age 65, of 8846 Mapleville Road, Boonsboro, MD, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 12, 1941 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Roderick Hansford and Charlotte Gough Purks.
He was formerly employed as a truck driver.
He was a member of Benevola United Methodist Church near Boonsboro.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia McCarron Purks, whom he married June 28, 1975; three children, Janice Doherty of Frederick, David Purks of Unionville, VA, and Dawn Alongi of Keedysville; two sisters, Katherine Gerwig of Hagerstown and Bobbie Winburn of Alverdo, TX; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at Benevola United Methodist Church. The Rev. Helen S. Smith will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
