Earl Cochran

June 8, 1925 — April 9, 2015

Earl “Bub” F. Cochran died peacefully at Frederick Memorial Hospital with his family on April 9, 2015 at the age of 89. Earl was born in Darnestown Md. on June 8, 1925, the son of Earl F. and Martha Conners Cochran. Earl was the husband of Betty M. Forney Cochran for 65+ loving and devoted years. Earl was known at the local country store for his morning coffee making, conversations with the customers, a very distinctive laugh, and was appropriately named “The Mayor of Kemptown.”

Earl worked for and retired from the Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission (MNCPPC). He was very proud of his previous employment at Kettler Brothers helping with the development of Montgomery Village in Gaithersburg Md.  Earl was a World War II Veteran serving in the U.S. Navy protecting the eastern coast of the United States on a mine sweeper. Earl was a current member of the Frederick American Legion Post 11. Earl loved working in his yard, he was known for his red geraniums and sitting on the front porch speaking and waving to his many friends going past their home.

Surviving besides his wife Betty is sister-in-law Carol & husband Dennis White, nieces Dr. Lisa White Gordon & Terry Magner, nephews Keith White, Paul Cochran, & Steven Cochran,  many cousins, very special great nephew and great nieces Cameron, Kaitlyn, & Emily, and two very special cats Winston & Puffy. Earl was predeceased by his father & mother, brother Edward “Peanut” Cochran, sister Grace Cochran Claggett, and niece Ebbie Claggett Maxwell.

The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home in Mt. Airy Md., on Wednesday, April 15 at 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM. Services for Mr. Cochran will be at Stauffer Funeral Home on Thursday, April 16 at 10:00 AM, Pastor D.D. Adams will officiate.  Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery (Rt. 15, North) Frederick, Md. Pall bearers are Dennis White, Keith White, Rudell Brandenburg, Bob Powell, Kevin Winpigler, and Brian Gordon.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Mr. Cochran’s name to the Days End Farm Horse Rescue, Lisbon Md. and/or to the Hospice of Frederick County.
