E. Lucille Putman, a beloved member of the community, has passed away at the age of 93. Born on August 21, 1929, in Carroll County, MD, Lucille was the daughter of the late William McKinley and Ethel M. (Lewis) Dixon.
Throughout her life, Lucille had a strong work ethic and an unwavering commitment to her family. As a young woman, she dedicated herself to working on her family farm, learning the values of hard work and perseverance. In 1973, she embarked on a new chapter in her professional life and joined an independent insurance agency. Her dedication and expertise led to her becoming known as the "voice of Frederick Underwriters," where she worked tirelessly until her well-deserved retirement in 2014. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, animals, antiquing, and their extensive flower gardens. They were often found at Walt Disney World and traveling the globe.
Lucille's education journey brought her to the halls of Frederick High School, where she developed a thirst for knowledge and a passion for lifelong learning.
Beyond her career accomplishments, Lucille was a beacon of light in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. She possessed a kind soul and a warm smile that could brighten any room. Her gentle nature and compassionate heart will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her.
She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Utica where she was involved in many capacities. She worked alongside members of the church to hold and organize the Annual Utica Picnic that was well attended by the Frederick County Community. She was a member of the Women's League and not only attended but served as President of the Women's Class No. 3.
Lucille leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, Daniel L. Putman, who cherishes every moment they spent together. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Wayne Putman and his wife, Pat, of Lewistown, and sister-in-law, Jeanne Cross and her husband, Larry, of Middletown.
Lucille will forever hold a special place in the hearts of her 11 nieces and nephews and their families. Among them is her beloved Godchild and niece, Tammy Comstock. Lucille's cousin, Dave Willard and his wife, Sue, shared a close bond with her throughout the years.
Additionally, Lucille leaves behind dear friends who became an extended family to her. JR Ramsburg Jr. and the Ramsburg families, Mary Alice Grove, Martha Ann Popovic, Phyliss and Frosty Betson provided unwavering support and friendship to Lucille throughout her life. Their memories with her will continue to bring comfort in the days ahead.
In this time of remembrance and mourning, we come together to celebrate Lucille's remarkable life. A series of visitations will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick on July 18th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
