Dr. Yvette Yingyue Lee, 77, of Urbana died suddenly Friday, June 6, 2014.
Born August 2, 1936 in Shanghai, China, she was the daughter of Dr. Fu-Xian Li of Wuxi, China and the late Wen-Quing Xie.
Dr. Lee was an accomplished burn surgeon in Shanghai and was responsible for saving the lives of many burn victims. Upon relocating to the United States in 1990, she last worked as a research scientist at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her daughter, Laura Gitzen and husband, Everett, of Urbana; her son, Qun Luo of Shanghai; three grandchildren, Ariana and Ethan Gitzen, and Yi-Fan Luo; two brothers, and four sisters.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mental Health Association of Frederick County, 226 South Jefferson Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
