Dr. Stephen Mueller

Dr. Stephen N. Mueller of Myersville died on Saturday, March 18, 2017, the day after his 70th birthday, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Diane Mueller, for over 37 years.
Born March 17, 1947 in the Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late Harry and Doris (Crowe) Mueller. His family later moved to Hillsdale, N.Y. where he attended Roeliff Jansen Central School.
Stephen obtained a PhD in cell biology at Syracuse University after graduating from Lemoyne College. He worked in academic research for many years at the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia and at the Coriell Institute for Medical Research in Camden, New Jersey. A recruitment to a position in the biotechnology industry in Gaithersburg, prompted the family's move to Maryland 23 years ago.
Stephen was very social and maintained close contact with groups of friends from high school, college, and work. He greatly enjoyed fishing with a close brotherhood of friends who shared a love of trout fishing and friendship for nearly 35 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Eric Mueller, of Myersville; and three siblings, Jeffrey Mueller, Barbara Newman, and Deborah Allsbrook.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where a celebration of his life will begin at 3 p.m.
Interment will be private.
