Dr. Albert Samuel, 76, of Middletown, MD went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 18, 2013, while vacationing in Michigan.
Dr. Samuel was born on February 27, 1937, in Tanjore, South India to the late Rev. and Mrs. Samuel Duraikan. He married his wife Jean on December 20, 1969, in Madison Heights, MI. Together they lovingly raised three sons Paul, Joseph, and Mark.
Dr. Samuel received a BS and a MS at the American College in India, an MS in Biology from Oberlin College, and a Ph.D. in Entomology from Michigan State University in 1971. He conducted cancer research at LLNL in Livermore, CA, and at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. He taught Biology and related subjects in India, St. Paul’s College, Lawrenceville, VA, and at Frederick Community College, from which he retired in 2003. He was also an organist and substitute organist at various churches in MI, VA, CA, and MD. Dr. Samuel had a lovely tenor voice which he used in praise to his Savior Jesus.
Dr. Samuel was a member of The Gideons International, Frederick East Camp since 1999. He loved placing Bibles in hotels and motels, giving New Testaments to anyone he met, and sharing his faith in Jesus Christ.
Surviving Dr. Samuel is his devoted wife Jean; son Paul, wife Julie and son Nathanael; son Joseph, wife Susan and children Joshua, Elizabeth and Benjamin; son Mark, wife Laura and children Marian, Sofia, and Timothy; brother John, wife Vasi in India; sisters Sushiela in India, Lilian in Grand Rapids, MI, and Beatrice in East Brunswick, NJ; sister-in-law Connie, husband Clyde in Troy, MI; sister-in-law Suzanne, husband Carl in Traverse City, MI; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews around the world, all of whom he loved very much.
Dr. Samuel is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers-in-law.
Viewing will be at Stauffer’s Funeral Home on Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD, on Friday, Aug. 23rd from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Peace in Christ Lutheran Church in Walkersville, MD, on Saturday, Aug. 24th at 10 a.m. A reception will follow the service.
