Dr. Emmett Full

Emmett Full, 99, of Mount Airy, Md., ended his journey on earth on January 8, 2025, peacefully at home with his family. Emmett lived a fulfilled life that began in Granville, Iowa, in 1925, to Otto and Barbara Full. Unfortunately, Otto was killed in an accident eight days after his son’s birth. Barb and her new son had to leave their home and move in with her father. Life at the time was difficult as the depression loomed over the world. However, fate would change things for Emmett when his mother met James Jacobs. They married and gave Emmett a sister, MaryAnn, in 1942.

Emmett entered Iowa State University to become a veterinarian and graduated in 1946. Soon, after advice from his uncle, Emmett moved to Frederick, Md, to begin his career. In no time, he started his practice in a one-room apartment in downtown Mount Airy.

Fate struck again when Emmett went on a blind date with Audrey Morris. They were married within a year and had two children, Gail and Doug, who were raised on Back Acre Farm that Emmett, who was known now as Doc, bought in 1955. This property became a successful animal hospital, but Doc also raised Angus cattle and farmed. Over the years, Doc was active in countless organizations, such as the Lion’s Club, 4~H, Cattlemen’s & Angus Associations, Maryland Forestation, to name a few. Mostly, though, Doc was devoted to his church, St. Michael’s, in Poplar Springs. Throughout the years he worked tirelessly to help grow the parish and spread the Word of God.

Doc retired in 1989 but never really retired. In fact, would not even say it. He always was interested in development and finally his final project about 30 years ago was born. Today the Twin Arch Business Park is a testament to his tenacity.

Doc and Audrey had a long and successful marriage. After 67 years together Audrey passed in 2016. During that time they travelled and made many friends. Doc loved to fish and hunt, going to Alaska eight times. His favorite foods besides beef were oysters and crabs. He always greeted everyone with a smile and never gave up on anything ever.

Emmett is survived by his sister, MaryAnn, children Gail and Doug (Donna), grandchildren, Brandon (Stacey), Aaron (April), Damon, Brittany (Dustin), Jim, and great-grandchildren, Conner, Raelynn, and Weston.

In lieu of flowers, please give donations to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Poplar Springs, MD.
