Douglas L. Cooke

Mr. Douglas L. Cooke, 67, of New Market, passed away Monday, March 15, 2010, at his residence, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 11, 1942, in Gilbert, West Virginia, and was the son of the late Norwood Cook and Ollie Mae Cook.

Mr. Cooke served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was an accomplished mason and business owner. He was a loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by three sons, Douglas Cooke Jr. and wife, Lisa, of San Diego, Ca, Steven Cooke and wife, Christine, of Haymarket, VA, and Michael Cooke and wife, Melissa, of Mt. Airy; two brothers, Norwood Cook and wife, Jeanne, of Rileyville, VA, Fred Cook and wife, Kim, of Woodbridge, VA; two sisters, Millie Brown and husband, Richard, of Annandale Va., and Pam Dodge and husband, Earl, of Winchester, VA; two granddaughters, Sarah Cooke and Kelly Cooke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Cooke was predeceased by sister, Patsy Taylor.

He will also be remembered by his loving fiancee Audrey Marshall Jackson.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 18th, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 19th, in the Stauffer Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
