Douglas Fred Horch

April 7, 1960 — March 28, 2009

Mr. Douglas Fred Horch, 48, died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was the son of Dolores N. Doe Horch of Walkersville, MD and Richard M. Horch of Placida, Fla and Winthrop, ME.

Doug was born on April 7, 1960 in Princeton, NJ. He was the owner of Olde Towne Hardwood Floors and touched the lives of many patrons and friends.

Doug had an enormous zest for life, easily made friends, and endeared himself to all. He was an avid amateur astrologist. He spent many hours underwater snorkeling, scuba diving on wrecks, and was a rescue driver. Over the years Doug played bass guitar, banjo, and sang in several groups and with other local musicians, entertaining at many public forums. He also had a passion for antique cars.

He lived a life so short and sweet, It brings a tear to eye... That somehow just the best of us Would be the one to die. But he will live forever In our hearts and in our minds... His passion and his joy for life With our lives intertwined. We savor every moment That we shared with one so dear We give him to the ages With eyes now blind with tears. Our arms will ache to hold him Our lips will feel bereft No other one can ever fill The empty space he left.

Doug is survived by his parents as well as his loving wife Kaylie and two adorable children Mia 7 and Mason 4. Other survivors include his brother David, sisters Dianne Stull and Drue McAllister, nephews Timothy and Andrew Stull, nieces Jessica and Kelsey Horch, two great nephews Noah and Chase Stull, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
