Douglas Eugene Baker, 43, of Walkersville, formally of Frederick, died December 22, 2008 at home following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of loving wife Ellen Baker.
Born February 11, 1965, in Frederick, he was the son of Naomi Flohr and the late Jimmy Baker and stepson of Harry Lee Crutchley. Doug was a lifelong resident of Frederick and he attended Frederick High School. Prior to his illness he was employed as a mechanic and in the construction trade.
Doug never let his illness keep him down. He made himself available to lend a hand whenever needed. He enjoyed motorcycles, off-roading, fixing things and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Doug is survived by his children Brandy Smith, Dakota Baker, step-sons Josh and Sonny Russin, grandchildren Stormy and Johnny sister Carol Printz, brother Darrin Baker, sister Misty Brannon and husband Rick, in-laws Judy and Julius Ginsberg, sister and brother-in-law Sue Ginsberg and Jeff Crider, and grandfather Harry E. Crutchley. He is also survived by loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Doug leaves behind a long list of special friends, far too many to mention, but special mention to include: Dougie Cook, Kim Cook, Paul Wega, Mandi Sentelle, The Brockey Family, Vernon and Kathy Palmer, Jeanette Taylor, Chris and Karen Reinhart, Wynn Zimmerman, Mitch and Karen Nikirk, and the brotherhood of KGB Off-road club members. He is also survived by his former spouse, Jennifer Baker.
Beside his father, Mr. Baker was preceded in death by grandparents Mildred and Roland Flohr, grandmother Helen Crutchley, and brother-in-law Wayne Printz.
Besides the care of his wife, Doug was helped in his final days by Hospice of Frederick County, and especially his nurse, Stacey Bowers.

Services: A celebration of Doug's life with a time of sharing will be held on Saturday, December 27th at 3:00 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, MD. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions in Doug's memory be made to Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD, 21702, to help defray final expenses.
