Mrs. Dorthy King Bernstrom, 90, formerly of Las Vegas, NV., died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Frederick Maryland Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Bernard William Bernstrom, Las Vegas.
Born on July 12, 1921, in Superior, WI, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Victoria King.
She grew up in the Superior/Duluth area. Once married, Dorthy and her husband lived in Minnesota, Wisconsin, California, Pennsylvania, Utah and Nevada. In 2006 she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law in Mount Airy, MD.
She is survived by three children: Bernard Bernstrom of Thailand; daughter Betty Long and husband Stuart of Salt Lake City, UT; and Nanci O’Brien and husband Michael of Mount Airy, MD. A daughter, Susan Mae Berns, Las Vegas, preceded her in death.
Dorthy is survived by grandchildren Eric Bernstrom, DC; Willy Linden, Cheyenne, WY; Travis Long, Salt Lake City, UT; Brandi McKoy, serving in the Navy in Africa; Bryan Long, Annandale, VA; Justin Long, Salt Lake City, UT. She also is survived by eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside memorial service will be held February 18th at 1 p.m. at Palm Northwest Mortuary & Cemetery, 6701 N. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, (702-464-8460) where Dorthy will be interned beside her late husband.
