Mrs. Dorothy Evelyn Coffman, 98, of Sabillasville, died Sunday, April 13th at her home. She was the wife of the late Howard Coffman who died in 1989.
Born in Baltimore, MD on March 1, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Clara (Etters) and Edward Leeslie Buchanan. Early in her life, Dorothy worked at the Waynesboro Knitting Mill and later was employed with Simmons Cleaning Plant in Cascade.
A member of the Thurmont Eastern Star, Dorothy lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed gardening and fishing in her younger days, and loved to pass on her wisdom and relate tales of her life to her friends and family.
The last member of her immediate family, she was also preceded in death by her six brothers; Leeslie, Warron, Norman, Arthur and wife Geneva, Stewert and Reed, and also by a niece Charlotte Freeze.
Survivors include her great niece Michelle Grail and husband Mark of Sabillasville; her loving great great niece Isabella; a sister-in-law, Mary Hayes of Chambersburg, PA and many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 5 until 7 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, MD.
Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM officiated by Rev. Richard Broome. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont where serving as pallbearers will be: Mark Grail, Robert Lowery, Justin Baker, Brian Free and Greg Pheobus.
