Dorothy "Dot" B. (Minnick) Himes passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Born October 26, 1922, in Middletown, MD, she was one of 15 children, a daughter of the late Irene (Baker) and Stanley Minnick.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone. She and her husband, Roger, owned and operated Himes Store. After his death in 1972, she and her son Gary, and his wife Martha, continued operating the store.
She is survived by three sons, Roger (Gene) and wife Donna of Brunswick, Gary and wife Martha (Sam) and Joseph and wife Tammy, both of Weverton; five grandchildren, Roger (David) and wife Andrea, Ernest and wife Vicki, Scott and wife Angee, Paul, Nathan and wife Jordyn, and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Bondena (Bonnie) Jackson, of Myersville, Patricia (Pay) Roelkey of Knoxville, Christine (Kitty) Lydard of Jefferson and Constance (Connie) Harmon of Braddock Heights.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Roger Himes, six brothers, Melvin (Pete) Minnick, Richard (Dick) Minnick, Vernon (Bud) Minnick, Ronnie Minnick, Raymond (Dave) Minnick and Harold (Jim) Minnick; and four sisters, Ann Holder, Helen Brandenburg, Evelyn House and Geneva Eichelberger.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick, MD. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 23, 2012 at 1 PM at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren 1915 Rohrersville Rd., Knoxville, MD. Pastors Tom Fralin and Wendell McClellan will be officiating.
