Dorothy Mae Zimmerman, 95, of Walkersville, MD passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born on January 21, 1919 in MD she was the daughter of the late Earl N. and Edith R. Main Zimmerman.
Dorothy was a member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren. Dorothy worked for 17 years at the Walkersville Sewing Factory and later retired from Cargill, formerly known as Farmers Supply Company. She loved spending time with her friends and family and especially looked forward to meeting with them every Saturday evening at the Mountain Gate Restaurant, a family tradition.
She is survived by niece Donna Boyd of Frederick ; four great nieces Elizabeth Leikus of Montgomery, PA, N. Renee Wallingford, Heidi Thomas and Tracy Wallingford all of Frederick; great-great nieces, Ashley Marshall, Megan Paul, Deja Sweeney, Natalie Biddinger and Laura Thomas, one great-great nephew Matthew Rice; 3 great-great- great nieces and 2 great-great-great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her sisters Mildred R. Etzler and Pauline Zimmerman.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville, on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 6-8pm where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 22 at 10am.
Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Dorothy's name to either the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave., Frederick, MD 21701 or the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Department,
