Mourn not for me for now I’m free

To join my Lord and family who waits for me

I’ll fly away, fly away to my new home

Over these mountains I will roam

I’ll be the wind you feel on your face

I’ll always be with you come what may

Watching over you and your family day by day

Take the balloons and let them go

And pray the wind does gently blow, to send me on my way

Just stop by from time to time

Or honk your horn as you drive by

I’ll be here to listen if you need a friend

This is the beginning and not the end

Be kind and be true, in all you do

And always remember G’ma loves all of you

Written by Dot Wood

Our hearts are saddened, as heaven rejoices the return of our dear mother’s soul.  Dorothy Margaretta Farnsworth Wood, age 80, reunited with her parents, husband, and son, August 7, 2015, surrounded by her family.  Dottie was born December 28, 1934, E. 4th Street, Frederick.  The only child of well-known Fredericktonian’s of that time, Edward D. and I. Dorothy Farnsworth, who themselves were married 61 years, passing within 30 hours of each other.  A true love story and partnership with which our mother was very proud.  Dottie was educated at the St. John’s Catholic Prep School graduating in 1953.  She then married Edward and spent 23 years as a military service family moving about and traveling the world with two of their four children being born in Germany.  They finally settled in Dorothy’s hometown of Frederick.  Dot retired from Frederick County Board of Education, having been an instructional aid for Elm Street School, North Frederick Elementary, and lastly, from Waverly.  In addition, she was employed by the Jim McClellan Veterinarian Clinic for over 20 years.  She spent her last years at the Cordell-Wood home enjoying the beautiful views and wildlife.  She was an avid reader and poet full of love for life and was well known for her humor and wit in all situations.  She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, CW3 Edward Carlton Wood, US Army Ret., in 1982; as well as her son, John Bradley Wood, Sr., deceased 2009.  She is survived by daughters, Mary Wood May of Falling Waters, WVa., Linda Wood Cordell and spouse, Thomas, of Boonsboro, MD, and son, Daniel Wood and spouse, Denise, of Hagerstown, MD.  Her family also includes seven grandchildren, Stacey R. Bolyard and spouse, Todd, Bradley Misko and spouse, Sophie, Hannah L. Alexander and spouse, Steve, Joshua Wood, Tyler Wood, Kelsey Cordell and Connor Cordell; step grandchildren, Katie and Tommy Cordell; six great-grandchildren; and her kitty cat companion, Tucker.

Memorial services will be held 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick where the family will receive friends starting at 6 p.m. until the time of services.

Keeping in accordance with her 80th birthday wish donations made to the Frederick County Humane Society are greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stauffer Funeral Home and Stauffer Crematory, Inc.  Online condolences may be made to the family at www.staufferfuneralhome.com.

- Missed already and loved always your family and friends, Mizpah.
