Dorothy Lee (Martz) Saylor, 88, of Frederick passed away peacefully at home on May 22, 2024.
Born on January 5, 1936, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ruth Martz. She was married to Robert (Bob) Saylor for 64 years until his death in 2021.
Dottie graduated from Frederick High School in 1954. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Damascus Auto Parts and Holly Hills Country Club. She later returned to her love for children as a preschool teacher at the Frederick YMCA where she retired in 2000.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and later Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick.
After retirement, Dottie loved to travel with Bob, doing crafts and working in the flower garden.
Family was very important to Dottie, and she looked forward to hosting the family reunion each summer. She adored all of her children and grandchildren and was a huge part of their lives.
She is survived by her children: Ron (Ann) Saylor, New Windsor, Gary (Marlene) Saylor, Frederick and Terri Wilson, Frederick. She is also survived by her sister, Pauline Marendt of Frederick. She leaves behind grandchildren: Caitlyn Weaver (Jason), Emma DeFreitas (Nick), Olivia Saylor, Adam Saylor, Daniel Saylor, Macy Wilson and Jared Wilson; and three great-grandchildren, Jude and Henry Weaver and Lecabel Wilson. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. And her beloved grand cat, Kaylee.
In addition to her husband and parents, Dottie was predeceased by her sister, Hilda Mahoney, and her grandson, Ethan Saylor.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m to 1:30p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick.
A celebration of Dottie’s life journey will take place on Wednesday, May 29 at 1:30 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick. Deacon Kim Hintzman will officiate. Burial will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Frederick Health Hospice, especially Annie, Lori, Natalia and Patty for the loving care they provided for Dottie.
