Mrs. Dorothy M. Runkles, 75, of Walkersville, Maryland, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at Glade Valley Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Albert L. Runkles.
Born April 6, 1938 in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Annie Hoffman Lowe.
She loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Marvin Chapel. In earlier years she sang with Patsy Cline and always loved her music. Dorothy was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother and was always kind to those around her. She enjoyed bingo, cooking and baking and was known for her slippery potpie and red velvet cakes.
She is survived by nine children James W. Runkles (Barbara), Douglas L. Runkles (Wanda), Barbara J. Diehl, Randy W. Runkles, Tammy L. Burns (Gary), Debbie T. Runkles, Dwayne A. Runkles, Crystal L. Runkles and Richard Runkles (Darlene, 15 grandchildren,
22 great grandchildren., two sisters Mary Boone (Woody) and Grace Dinterman (Charles) and brothers Douglas Lowe (Brenda), Thomas and Jarold Lowe. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a step-son Tommy Runkles, a grandson Cheyenne “Bo” Runkles and two brothers Charles and James Lowe.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy on Thursday, November 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where services will be held Friday, November 15, at 11:00 am
