Dorothy Pickett

Mrs. Dorothy Virginia Pickett, 89, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on Saturday July 25, 2015 at her residence. She was the wife of the Thomas Andrew Pickett who preceded her in death.
Born on July 24, 1926, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Elizabeth Beveridge Nusbaum. Dorothy was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick.
She was a homemaker during her early married life, but later worked as Office Manager for 25 years at Ken's Transmission in Frederick, MD.
She enjoyed sewing and knitting both for her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed canning as well. Her most beloved possessions were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are five children: Linda L. Pickett-Morgan of Gaithersburg, William A. Pickett of Leesburg, VA, Robert W. Pickett and wife Elizabeth of Paeonian Springs, VA, Thomas M. Pickett and wife Tracy of Frederick and Carol J. White and husband Bernard of Hagerstown; twelve grandchildren: Kathryn Winkler, Timothy Pickett, Lisa Ashby, Rachel Sullivan, Nathan Pickett, Virginia Theerman, Lily Pickett, Holly Pickett, James Pickett, R. Steven Kopp, Kenneth Kopp and Russell Kopp; eight great-grandchildren: Dylan, Hunter, Elise, Cormac, Patrick, Nicholas, McKayla and Savannah; a sister Jean Pope of Oklahoma and a brother, Paul Nusbaum and wife Josephine of Sykesville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Pickett was preceded in death by brothers Russell and Robert Nusbaum, a son-in-law Robert Morgan, a daughter-in-law, Patsy Beall-Pickett and a granddaughter, Michaela Theerman.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Friday, July 31, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick where services will begin at 11:00 AM with Rev. Tim May officiating.
Interment will take place 1 p.m. Friday in Ketoctin Cemetery in Purcellville, VA.
