Dorothy Patterson

Dorothy Barbara Patterson, 76, of Emmitsburg, MD passed away Monday, July 3, 2017.
Born January 26, 1941 in New Britain, CT she was the daughter of the late George F. and Dorothy B. Thompson Day.
Dottie had a wonderful lively and adventurous spirit. After graduating from Canton High School ('58) and raising her family in Glastonbury, CT, she sought new adventures in her life by owning her own business, and later changing careers and moving to Monterey CA. She retired in Clearwater FL where she loved the warm winters. She always had a pet dog, and loved dancing, playing the piano, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend, and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Ronald and Ann Patterson of Frederick, Maryland, and Mark and Gwen Patterson of Albany, New York. She has 5 grandchildren: Ryan Patterson, Grace Patterson, Mable Patterson, Erica Hawkins, and Allison Hawkins. She leaves behind her loving sister and brother in law Janice DeMaio and Paul DeMaio, many nephews and nieces, and her ex-husband and friend, Laurence Patterson.
She was preceded in death by her dearly loved father and mother, George and Dorothy Day, and brothers, George and Richard Day.
