Dorothy Anne Schmitt Mitlehner, 69, of Frederick passed away on Friday, February 6th,2009.
She was the devoted wife of the late Carl H. Mitlehner.
They had been married for 49 years.
She was born on October 20, 1939, in Hempstead, New York and was the daughter of the late Margaret (Reddoch) and Paul Schmitt.
She attended Harpur College in Binghamton, New York, where she met her future husband. The family moved to Farmingdale, New York in 1961, and to Frederick in 1969. After raising four children she earned her Associates Degree from Frederick Community College in 1978.
Following her retirement as business manager from HomeCall, she took up cross-stitch and became a talented and proficient artist. In addition to her needlework she enjoyed logic puzzles, golf at the V.F.W., and genealogy.
Dorothy is survived by her four children, Trudi Capotosto and husband Tom of Austin, TX, Elise Weston-Dawkes and husband Andrew of Potomac, Krista Girard and husband David of Frederick and Carl A. Mitlehner and wife Denise of Ashburn, VA; ten grandchildren, Matthew, Jill and Dana Capotosto, Michael, William and Matthew Weston-Dawkes, Cullen and Erika Girard, Nicole and Katherine Mitlehner. She is also survived by two brothers, Richard Schmitt and wife Renette, and Paul Schmitt and wife Rene, all of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her sister Margaret Bechtold.

Services:
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. from the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
Interment will be private
