Dorothy Higinbotham

Mrs. Dorothy Gable Higinbotham, 98, of Frederick, MD., died Monday, July 15, 2013 at Homewood at Crumland Farms.
Wife of the late Frank Weadon Higinbotham, and daughter of the late Raymond S. and Mary Baugher Gable, Dorothy was born on March 22, 1915 in New Oxford, Pennsylvania.
Dorothy was a member of the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ. She was a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, the Homemakers Club, the Rose Hill Garden Club and a life member of the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Music, especially organ, was a passion of hers, as was cooking, baking, needlework and crafts.
The family wishes to thank the Homewood staff and caregivers for all the kindnesses and care given to their mother.
She is survived by two sons Randall Higinbotham and wife Josephine of Lexington, VA and Edward Higinbotham and wife Rowena of Frederick. Grandchildren Edward Higinbotham, Jr. and wife Kathy of Woodsboro, Dr. John Higinbotham and wife Dr. Kathy Adams of Frederick, and Dr. Douglas Higinbotham and wife Dr. Marcy Stutzman of Newport News, VA. Great grandchildren include Gable, Michael, James of Frederick, and Robert and Bryan of Newport News. Dorothy's siblings include Leon Gable, Fred Gable, Betty Brothers, Nancy Aldridge and Larry Gable. She was preceded in death by siblings Elton, William, Nelson, Jane and Harold. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD, Thursday, July 25, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm., where services will be held Friday, July 26, at 10:00 am. Interment at New Oxford Cemetery, New Oxford, PA will follow.
