Dorothy DeLauter
March 28, 1934 — August 30, 2018
Dorothy Elizabeth DeLauter, 84, of Thurmont, passed from this life on Thursday, August 30th, 2018 at home. She was the wife of Daniel Frederick DeLauter. Born March 28th, 1934 in Frederick. She was the daughter of the late Wilbert H. Rinehart and Mamie Marie Kemp Rinehart.
Mrs. DeLauter was a member of the Harriet Chapel Church in Thurmont and attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Sabillasville. She managed Home Style Laundry and was employed at Claire Frock for over 20 years in Thurmont. In her early years, she worked at Frederick Opera House and the Tivoli Theatre in Frederick. She graduated from Frederick High School in 1952.
Dorothy enjoyed roller skating, making flower arrangements and most of all spending time with her family.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are the following:
Four children: Marty Sweeney and wife Gina, Lisa Sweeney, Jody Darner and husband Gerald, Tiffany Whitmore and husband Michael; Five grandchildren: Alicia Sweeney, Zachary Whitmore, Zoey Whitmore, Joshua Darner, Tommy DeVaughn; Three great grandchildren: Kerryn Preudhomme, Owen Tracy and Bella Rae DeVaughn; Brothers: Wilbert E. (Pete) Rinehart, Clarence L. Rinehart and wife Virginia, Charles F. (Joe) Rinehart, Gary W. Rinehart and wife Pyhllis, Chris D. Rinehart; Sisters: Brenda M. Little and husband Paul, Joyce C. Schley and husband Grant; a Brother in law, Rick Israel; a Sister in law, Edy Rinehart as well as her Mother in law, Louise P. DeLauter and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Bernard Rinehart, James Rinehart, Kenneth Rinehart, Patricia Israel and Robert Rinehart.
The family will receive visitors wishing to pay their respects on Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 from 5 - 8 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street, Thurmont. Funeral services will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 at 11:00am. Interment will be in Creagerstown Cemetery.
