Dorothy Eileen Bloss, 77, of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Frederick Health Hospital.
Born September 8, 1945, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late William F. Harper III and Dorothy (Maxfield) Harper Barton. Eileen was the wife of James H. Bloss, her husband of 52 years.
She was a graduate of DuVal High School and Frostburg State College. She was an elementary school teacher before she left the profession to raise her family. Eileen worked as a librarian at the Mt. Airy branch of the Carroll County Public Library for more than 20 years before retiring in 2007.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her son, Jason Bloss of Mt. Airy, Md.; daughter and son-in-law, Jaime and Albert R. Ridgley III of New Windsor, Md.; grandson, Luke Ridgley; granddaughter, Emory Ridgley; sister, Patricia Linton; brother-in-law, Ronald Bloss and wife, Susan; niece, Jaclyn Bloss-Bell; and nephews, Russell Bloss and William F. Harper V. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, William F. Harper IV.
Eileen loved reading and history. Family was of utmost importance to her; she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Stauffer’s Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, Md. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, Md.
