Dorothy Benton

Dorothy N. (Lugenbeel) Benton, 87, of Fairplay, Maryland, went to meet Jesus on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at her home.

Born on December 5, 1926, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Celia (Lemmon) Lugenbeel. Her husband, Harry E. Benton, Sr., preceded her in death on March 1, 1987.

Dorothy was a member of the Downsville Christian Church, the Downsville Senior Citizens Group, and the Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association.

She spent her life dedicated to raising her family and working the family dairy farm - Arch Spring Farm - in Fairplay.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon D. Gregoire and husband Gary of Middletown, Maryland, and Darlene H. Mitchell and husband Bryon of Doubs, Maryland; one son, Harry E. Benton, Jr. and wife Carol of Fairplay; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Varette.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2014, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Craig L. Jones will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Keedysville, Maryland.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
