Dorothea (DeDe) Emma Stetson

Dorothea Emma (DeDe) Stetson, née Murrison, 73, was born on February 16, 1951 in Washington, D.C. to George Fenton Murrison and Alice Emma (Harvey) Murrison. She grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and graduated from Northwood High School and then from the University of Maryland with a degree in Economics. She worked for years at the Civil Aeronautics Board.

In 1976, she married Arthur William (Terry) Stetson, II, and she is survived by him, by five of their children: Kim (Fred), Amy (Chris), Lori, Bryan and Steven, and eight grandchildren: Heriberto, José, Luz, Elder, Herbert, Gavin, Lucas and Katie. She was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey.

DeDe enjoyed her china painting hobby, gardening, collectibles, cake decorating and camping. While physically able, she was always very involved in church, teaching English as a Second Language, and youth ministry.

While her passing came more quickly than her family expected, we rejoice that she is healed and in Heaven with Jesus, something she talked about from the time she was a young girl.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Mt. Airy), 8 East Ridgeville in Mt. Airy, MD.

Interment will be private. All are welcome to upcoming services.
