Ms. Doris A. Bowens, 58, of Frederick, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 26th, 2008 at her home. Born on December 11th, 1949 in Frederick, she was the beloved daughter of Adaline Diggs Charles Pepe Genius of Frederick. She leaves behind her long-time companion of 40 years, Mr. Alonzia Lonnie Carpenter of Frederick.
Doris was a graduate of Frederick High School. She was employed as a GNA/CMT at Homewood Retirement Center, Frederick. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards and going to Bingo.
Surviving beside her parents and companion are three devoted children; Sharnell Bowens and fiance Jerry Smith, Dwight Eric Bowens and wife Carmen,and Larry Bowens and fiance Joanette Disney. She also leaves behind her in-laws; Ralph and Viola Carpenter, sister-in-laws; Sylvia Woods and Sandra Leg.
To cherish her memories she leaves behind five brothers; Robert Bowens, Kennea Diggs, Charles Diggs all of Frederick, Chucky Diggs of Baltimore and David Bowens of Texas, six sisters;
Shirley Bowens, Delores Lyles, Wendy cole, Rita Herbert, Tonya Diggs and Mildred Griffin all of Frederick, her cherished and devoted grandchildren; Sheka, Keyana, Jerry, Jerron, Jerrell, Brittany, Larry, Erica, Isaiah, Michelle, Devaun, Darius, Eric and Alea, great-grandchildren; Kadon, Damidre and Jakhia. Doris is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that she loved very much. Devoted family members are Frances Allen, Peggy Diggs, Irma Thompson, helen Naylor, Tyeicka Thompson, and Betty Bowens. Devoted friends are Roseanne Brown, Mary Brown, Shelby Bowen, Elsie Miller and Roxanne Worrell.
Doris was preceded in death by her foster parents; Clarence and Ruby Diggs, her grandparents; Charles and Edna Bowens, a sister Robin Diggs, brother Ricky Diggs, grandson Terrence Bowens, and cousin Frances Stump Bowens.
Visitation: Family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike,Frederick, on Friday, May 30th, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Rex Bowens and Rev. Roger Rollins officiating. Interment in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions to the family may be made in care of the funeral home.
